My first performance by Antje Fischer

I've always loved singing and I sing whenever I can at home usually in the shower! The problem is, I've always hated the thought of singing in public or even in front of my closest friends. The thought of it makes me feel really anxious. One day I heard about a school talent show and I decided to give it a go.

However, When I arrived at the contest, I walked onto the stage and I was terrified. My hands were shaking and I could hardly hold the microphone. When the music started, I was shivering all over, but I began to sing the first few words. At the beginning, it was difficult but gradually I started to calm down and sing normally. I actually loved it and by the end, I wanted to scream with joy!

I didn't win the contest but people said I sang well. The experience boosted my confidence about my singing and now I'm thinking about joining a band.

Buổi biểu diễn đầu tiên của tôi do Antje Fischer trình diễn

5. Look at the notes in Exercise 4. Write a description of Toby's personal challenge. Follow the instructions below.

Sailing a Boat

Toby has always been afraid of water, a fear he first realized when he traveled by ferry as a child. Despite this fear, his uncle, who owns a boat, invited Toby and his family to go sailing. This invitation set the stage for Toby's personal challenge.

At first, Toby was extremely nervous, shivering and sweating as they set out on the water. Suddenly, his uncle handed him the controls of the boat. To help Toby overcome his fear, his uncle advised him to look at the distance rather than the water. Gradually, Toby began to feel more confident as he focused on the horizon and not the waves beneath him.

After completing the challenge, Toby felt a sense of accomplishment and joy. He loved the experience and expressed a strong desire to go sailing again. Most importantly, he now feels more confident on the water, having faced and overcome his fear.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any further assistance.
