Read the passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the following questions.
A recent report from Ho Chi Minh City has raised serious concerns about child safety and development in modern society. The findings highlight both online and offline challenges that local teenagers are facing today and suggest how to solve them.
According to the report, technology is growing rapidly. Statistics show that 89% of children aged from 10 to 15 spend two to four hours a day surfing the Internet. More importantly, 87% of teenagers aged from 12 to 17 spend five to seven hours online every day. Too much screen time without adult supervision can badly affect personality development and cause a high risk of cyber abuse.
There are several other factors affecting children's safety in the real world. In crowded urban areas, many migrant families face economic hardships and live in small rental houses. Because parents are often busy working, they may neglect their children. Furthermore, communication about children’s rights is still insufficient. At the same time, local social workers often have to perform multiple roles, which limits their effectiveness in helping vulnerable children.
To address these issues, the city has proposed new programs to help teenagers interact safely and creatively in the digital world. Schools are also organizing awareness campaigns to teach students how to avoid online risks and bad behavior. In conclusion, protecting children requires a strong connection between families, schools, and local authorities to ensure a safer environment for the younger generation.

Living in the Ice Age
I’m a scientist and I arrived here in Antarctica three months ago in December. The temperature is cold but not unpleasant yet. Since arriving, I have worked with about 60 other people getting everything ready for the Antarctica winter. It’s been a lot of hard work, but it was fun too. However, a few days ago the ship left taking most of the staff with it, and it won’t be back to fetch us until next December. So the hardest thing to get used to is that there are now just fourteen of us because I’m used to working in a large company.
I’m living on the same work station I was on ten yours ago. It was new then and it’s still in good condition and unchanged. The dried food we get is also the same – you forget what real food tastes like after a few weeks. The people working here with me are all different from then, but I’m always happy getting to now new people. Ten years ago, we were all able to send faxes to friends and family once a month, but today we can send emails and talk on the phone so we don’t feel so far away.
